Mykolaiv has received four subventions from the state and regional budgets for over UAH 823 million. The bulk of the funds will be used to pay teachers' salaries and organize school meals.

The decision was made by the deputies during the session of the Mykolaiv City Council.

The city received the largest amount of funding as part of the educational subvention - UAH 707 million 634 thousand. As before, these funds will be used to pay salaries to teachers of general secondary education institutions.

In addition, another UAH 101 million 61 thousand was allocated from the state budget to Mykolaiv to provide school meals. Funding for school meals remains one of the key social issues for residents of the frontline city, including parents of students.

Last year, deputies approved amendments to the comprehensive program "Education" for 2025-2027. The purpose of the amendments is to ensure safe and appropriate conditions for the education and upbringing of children in the city's educational institutions.

According to the decision, UAH 5.17 billion is planned to be spent on the operation of general secondary education institutions, including specialized sports classes, and preschools in 2025-2027.

Of this amount, UAH 1.72 billion will come from the local budget, UAH 212.7 million from the state budget, and more than UAH 3.2 billion from the educational subvention. In addition, institutions expect to receive 18.5 million from a special fund.

The updated program also includes funding for student meals. UAH 524 million has been allocated to provide lunches for primary school students, of which UAH 157 million is from the local budget and UAH 366.9 million is from the state budget.

Last year, Mykolaiv also planned to purchase new school buses to transport students: UAH 3.9 million was allocated from the city budget. In addition, the city expects to receive additional funding in the form of a state subvention. Although the exact amount of state support for Mykolaiv has not yet been determined, it is likely that it will be part of the UAH 19.7 million that was earmarked for the entire Mykolaiv region to purchase school buses.
