Mykolaiv communities continued to work on arranging barrier-free routes. Currently, regional communities are at the stage of developing routes for administrative centers.

This was reported by the Mykolaiv Regional Administration on Facebook.

The work is carried out in accordance with the methodological recommendations of the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine (Order No. 970 of 09.06.2025), which provide for the formation of holistic accessibility routes. It is a matter of combining administrative buildings, educational and healthcare institutions, social facilities and transport infrastructure into a single accessible system.

Currently, the implementation of new routes is being integrated with the processes of restoring infrastructure after war damage and uses various sources of funding, such as government programs, local budgets, and support from international partners.

The development of a barrier-free environment in Mykolaiv region is part of the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Space in Ukraine until 2030, initiated by the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska.

In particular, Mykolaiv has previously approved an action plan to implement the barrier-free strategy. These include the arrangement of accessible environments in residential buildings, schools, hospitals, shelters, public spaces, and the purchase of special vehicles for people with limited mobility.

The Executive Committee approved a list of measures to ensure the implementation of the National Strategy for Creating Barrier-Free Space in the City for 2025-2026. The initiative covers residential buildings, educational and medical institutions, infrastructure facilities, public spaces, and transportation.
