In Mykolaiv, a path to a sports ground located in the beach area of the Namiv neighborhood was arranged. Finally, people in wheelchairs and other people with limited mobility can easily get to their favorite place for physical activity.

According to the Mykolaiv City Council, the work was carried out by the municipal enterprise "DES "Pilot".

"Our advocate, who is currently in a wheelchair, asked the city council to arrange such a path. He lives nearby and regularly visits the sports ground, but before, it was quite inconvenient to get there on the sand," the statement said.

So, since the playground is located in the beach area, the city council decided to make sure that a wheelchair could be used not only to get to the playground itself, but also to the coastline, where you can relax.

Before starting the work, the city council notes, the specialists of SE "Pilot" consulted with the initiator himself to take into account his wishes and needs. As a result, the city received an inclusive location that is convenient and comfortable for everyone.

Earlier, Mykolaiv planned to create an inclusive space for children with special needs. This space will become a safe place to study and work with specialists who will help children with developmental disabilities and those who have experienced psychological trauma due to the war. The initiative is supported by the NGO "Building Ukraine Together" and the International Renaissance Foundation.

A new inclusive gym was also opened in the Voznesenska community as part of the ADAPT project, which aims to support adaptive sports for different categories of people. The main goal of the project is to enable people with disabilities to play sports, improve their health, and adapt to social life.
