In Mykolaiv, the city decided to send people with special needs on vacation to an inclusive beach in Odesa. It is planned to allocate almost half a million hryvnias from the city budget for this purpose.

The decision was made at a meeting of the Standing Committee on Health and Social Protection.

The commission members were asked to consider a draft decision on changes to the Mykolaiv Without Barriers program for 2024-2026.

According to Nadiia Skopenko, Deputy Director of the Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Mykolaiv City Council, it is necessary to provide an opportunity for people with disabilities to go on vacation to an inclusive beach in Odesa.

Changes have been made to the procurement of transportation services to compensate for the cost of services for people with disabilities. The estimated budget for these services is UAH 485 thousand. This service will be provided through tender procurement.

The Commission supported the decision.

According to the functional structure of the budget expenditures of the Mykolaiv city territorial community for 2024, the largest share is occupied by the social and cultural sphere: education, healthcare, social protection, culture and sports. They will receive about 70 percent of the funds.

At the end of October, the deputies decided to resume the work of the committee for accessibility for people with disabilities. The number of people with disabilities in the city is growing, which leads to new problems. The committee's work was suspended due to the war, and although the new committee has been approved, it is still not functioning and does not address urgent issues.

Mykolaiv also plans to build a new geriatric nursing home and social town with the support of Danish partners. The main goal of the project is to improve conditions for people with limited mobility and raise the standard of living for children and the elderly.

Recently, the executive committee of the Mykolaiv City Council approved a new item in the socio-economic development program for prosthetics. It is planned to purchase a building to set up a prosthetic and orthotic workshop on the basis of City Hospital No. 4.
