The mayor of Mykolaiv warned that lynching for dumped garbage is unacceptable, but residents can puncture the wheels of dump trucks and call the police. In Ternivka, illegal removal of construction waste resulted in a spontaneous landfill that outraged residents.

This was reported by MikVisti.

In Ternivka, Mykolaiv, a spontaneous landfill was formed due to the illegal removal of construction and other waste. Local residents are appealing to the authorities to remove it. The problem was reported during a city council session on September 4.

Deputy Andriy Yantar said that residents had planted an alley of walnuts in the neighborhood, and a landfill was growing nearby, on an area of about a hectare. According to him, waste is regularly brought there by dump trucks. On Dachna Street, the road passes by the skate park. It was built by residents, with the private sector and a dacha cooperative on the right and garages on the left. Dump trucks take construction waste there, forming large piles.

Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych suggested that residents monitor the situation, call the police and record the offenders on photos or video.

We will act according to the law and seize property. We already have experience: after the arrest, people start removing garbage properly," the mayor emphasized.

He noted that it is not strangers who throw garbage in Ternivka, but neighbors. But if someone sees a violation, they should call the police. The official also emphasized that lynching is unacceptable, but residents can puncture the wheels of dump trucks. The administration of the Central District was instructed to develop an action plan to eliminate the dump.

Recently, Mykolaiv deputies refused to sign a contract for the construction of a sorting station. The mayor promised to announce a new tender and continue working on the project.

At the same time, the police opened a criminal investigation into possible abuses by city council officials during the tender for waste sorting. The investigation is focused on the selection of a contractor to provide these services. The project's budget is UAH 1.25 billion for 25 years, and law enforcement is conducting a series of inspections.
