In Mykolaiv, the Security Service of Ukraine detained an informant of the Russian special services who was passing the coordinates of the Ukrainian military to the enemy to prepare strikes.
This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, the offender was a local recidivist previously convicted of robbery and car theft. After his release, he was looking for quick money on Telegram channels, where he came to the attention of Russian special services.
The man traveled around the city and recorded possible locations of the Defense Forces, marking them on maps. If targets were identified, he would conduct additional reconnaissance, assessing the number of soldiers, equipment, and terrain.
He transmitted the collected information via anonymous chat to a representative of the Russian special services.
Law enforcement officers exposed the informant's activities, documented his actions, and detained him after securing the positions of the Ukrainian military. During the search, they seized his smartphone with evidence of cooperation with the enemy.
Investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under the article on unauthorized dissemination of information about the deployment of the Armed Forces under martial law. He faces up to 12 years in prison.
The offender is currently in custody without the right to be released on bail. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
Recently, in Mykolaiv, the SBU exposed a man who administered a closed Telegram community to coordinate mobilization evasion. He not only distributed the locations of the TCC, but also created instructions on how to counteract the military.
Earlier, the SBU military counterintelligence, with the support of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, exposed another informant of Russian special services in Mykolaiv region. The detainee was a 21-year-old serviceman of one of the air defense units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who was recruited by the enemy.
Last year, the SBU CI prevented an attempt on the life of an officer of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine. He came to Ukraine posing as a tourist and initially settled in Mykolaiv region.
