Mykolaiv celebrated the 70th anniversary of the Mykolaiv Professional College of Culture and Arts. The festive event took place on December 9 at the Academic Drama Theater.
This was reported by the press service of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration.
The event was attended by representatives of the regional and city authorities, the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications, heads of departments, teachers, students and partners of the institution.
Yuriy Granaturov, Deputy Head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, addressed the guests with words of gratitude for the institution's contribution to the development of Ukrainian culture.
"70 years is a time of change, achievement and faith in the power of culture that unites and inspires," the official said.
According to him, Mykolaiv College of Culture and Arts has become not only one of the centers of art education in the south of Ukraine, but also a powerful cultural front that confronts the challenges of time, preserving and popularizing Ukrainian identity.
On the occasion of the anniversary, the best teachers and staff were awarded with certificates and letters of appreciation from the regional administration, the Ministry of Education and Science, and the Ministry of Culture. They also received the second degree award "For Merit to Mykolaiv Region" from the regional council.
This year, 139 new students entered Mykolaiv Colleges of Culture and Musical Arts. A total of 464 students are enrolled in these educational institutions. The colleges also support the educational needs of internally displaced persons. Currently, 25 students from among the IDPs are enrolled in them.
In August, Mykolaiv College of Culture received more than 2 million to create a safe space. The commission members decided to amend the institution's data to receive the funds. This class of KVEDs includes art, drama, and music training.
Since 2022, 211 cultural institutions, architectural monuments, and places of worship have been damaged in Mykolaiv region. According to the ministry, 23 cultural facilities were completely destroyed, while 40% of them have been restored. Nine cultural and educational institutions of regional subordination sustained varying degrees of damage.
