The Bashtanka City Council refused to collect about UAH 230,000 in fines from the contractor for the disrupted road repairs.

According to the Mykolaiv Oblast Prosecutor's Office, in May 2023, the Bashtanka City Council entered into a contract with an LLC to repair a road in Bashtanka, the terms of which were not fulfilled by the contractor. The parties subsequently terminated the contract by mutual agreement.

At the same time, according to law enforcement officers, the city council, despite the undisputed right to hold the contractor liable for failure to fulfill contractual obligations in the form of penalties in favor of the community budget, unreasonably refused to collect about UAH 230 thousand to the budget.

In view of the above, in order to protect the interests of the state, the district prosecutor's office filed a lawsuit to invalidate the additional agreement on termination of the contract and recover funds from the budget.

Earlier , the Antimonopoly Committee fined two construction companies for collusion during tenders in Mykolaiv region. Now they face suspension from public procurement for up to three years.

In the spring, Mykolaiv region announced a tender for almost a billion hryvnias to maintain national roads until the end of 2026. The customer was also the Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service, which plans to sign a contract for additional work on routine maintenance of roads, from cleaning and repairing the pavement to maintaining roadsides and road signs.

In addition, the Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service in Mykolaiv region announced a tender for UAH 70 million. The contractor will use these funds to apply horizontal markings on national roads.
