Mykolaiv Athletes Shine at Ukrainian Diving Cup, Winning 5 Medals

Mykolaiv athletes successfully competed at the Ukrainian Diving Cup, winning several medals. Roman Galikberov won three awards, including silver in the platform diving and synchronized diving, and Maxim Mirza won gold in the 3-meter springboard diving.

This was reported by the press service of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration.

Athletes from Mykolaiv won prizes at the Ukrainian Diving Cup among age groups A and B.

The competition took place from 4 to 8 March in Kyiv and was attended by over 40 athletes from six regions of Ukraine: Vinnytsia, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk, Lviv, Mykolaiv regions and Kyiv.

Mykolaiv jumpers won several awards. Maksym Mirza won gold in the 3-meter springboard jump, and Roman Galikberov won gold in the 1-meter springboard jump. In addition, Roman won silver in the tower jump and another silver in the synchronized 3-meter springboard jump together with Yan Kaplichenko.

In February, Mykolaiv basketball club Niko-Basket won an important victory in a home game of the Major League, defeating Vinnytsia with a score of 84:57. The match ended with a convincing victory for the Mykolaiv team, who seized the lead in the second quarter and did not allow their opponents to get closer. The victory was important for the team, which continues to fight in the tournament.

From February 23 to March 2, Antalya (Turkey) hosted the European Fencing Championships among cadets and juniors, where Ukraine was represented by five athletes from Mykolaiv: Victoria Korotchenko, Milana Stepovyk, Daniil Skorokhod, Elizar Dyrda and Artem Korzhovoy-Lerner. It was an important event for the fencers, who showed excellent results at the international level, demonstrating a high level of training and competitive skills.

In 2024, Mykolaiv athletes won a total of 909 medals, 242 of which were gold. This demonstrates the high level of sports training in the city and the significant contribution of local athletes to the development of Ukrainian sports. Among the main achievements of Mykolaiv residents is participation in the Olympic and Paralympic Games, which was a great achievement for local athletes and gave them the opportunity to represent Ukraine on the international stage.
