Mykolaiv has allocated more than UAH 17 million to implement school canteen modernization projects. The largest repairs are planned for three educational institutions in the city.

The Executive Committee of the Mykolaiv City Council has decided to reallocate expenditures from the special budget fund for 2026 to implement projects to modernize canteens in the city's educational institutions.

According to the decision of June 4, 2026, the Capital Construction Department reallocated UAH 17.1 million within the already approved budget allocations. The funds were used to co-finance projects implemented at the expense of a state subvention for the creation and modernization of school canteens and food service units.

The funding was transferred from the program for the preparation and implementation of public investment projects in education to the budget program for co-financing the state subvention. The total amount of redistribution was over UAH 17 million.

The largest amount of funds is allocated for the overhaul of the canteen at Mykolaiv Lyceum #40 on Metallurgiv Street - over UAH 6.2 million. Almost UAH 5 million will be allocated to modernize the canteen of gymnasium No. 46 on 9 Pozdunna Street, and about UAH 6 million will be spent on renovating the canteen of gymnasium No. 52 on Krylova Street.

Last year, the deputies approved changes to the comprehensive program "Education" for 2025-2027. The updated program also includes funding for school meals. UAH 524 million has been allocated to provide lunches for primary school students, of which UAH 157 million is from the local budget and UAH 366 million from the state budget.

The changes are related to the implementation of government decisions to provide subventions to local budgets for the modernization of canteens in educational institutions. The Finance Department of Mykolaiv City Council is to make the appropriate changes to the budget schedule.

In January, Mykolaiv received four subventions from the state and regional budgets for over UAH 823 million. The bulk of the funds will be used to pay teachers' salaries and organize school meals.
