In Mykolaiv region, a soldier was sentenced to five years in prison for blowing up a grenade on the territory of a territorial recruitment center. The explosion damaged service vehicles.

This is evidencedby the verdict of the Voznesensk City District Court.

According to the investigation, in February 2025, a combat medic detonated an F-1 hand grenade and threw it onto the territory of the local territorial center for recruitment and social support.

The explosion damaged two service vehicles. According to the investigators, this made it impossible to use them for official tasks. In addition, law enforcement officers found that the accused had purchased the grenade in 2023 and stored it without permission.

During the trial, the senior soldier fully admitted his guilt and sincerely repented. The prosecutor and the accused entered into a plea agreement, which the court approved.

According to the agreement, the defendant was sentenced to imprisonment for obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and for illegal possession and storage of ammunition.

The court sentenced the soldier to 5 years in prison. In addition, the judge canceled the seizure of property seized during the investigation and returned it to the convict's family. The convict was charged more than seven thousand hryvnias for the explosive technical examination.

Cases of military personnel being convicted under this article in the region are not isolated. In April, a soldier was convicted in Mykolaiv region for threatening to detonate a grenade in a supermarket. The senior flamethrower operator entered the store with a GHO-1 combat grenade in his hands and began to say that he would blow himself and the customers up. The court sentenced him to three years in prison.

In February, a serviceman who served as a rifleman in an assault unit hid an M67 grenade in a shop on Korabeliv Avenue. The court sentenced him to two years of service restriction with 20% of his salary deducted in favor of the state.
