In Mykolaiv, a man who possessed child pornography avoided imprisonment. The court imposed a probationary period and banned him from working with children.

This is evidenced by the verdict of the Pervomaiskyi City District Court of Mykolaiv Oblast.

According to the investigation, the defendant, acting contrary to the laws of Ukraine and international conventions on the protection of children, intentionally accessed Internet content with child pornography for his own viewing. He did not intend to distribute or sell these materials.

It has been established that in February 2025, the man accessed two pornographic video files involving a child through an e-mail registered to his phone number. Later, in March 2025, he re-accessed another video file via his cell phone, took a screenshot and tried to delete the files, but they remained in the messenger's cache.

During the search of his apartment, law enforcement officers seized starter packs of mobile operators and the mobile phone used to access the prohibited content. Analysis of the seized materials confirmed the presence of child pornography.

The court also reviewed the evidence provided by the prosecution: search reports, expert opinions, investigators' decisions and other documents confirming the man's guilt. The defendant himself pleaded guilty, sincerely repented and confirmed that he was no longer engaged in such actions.

The court classified his actions under Part 1 of Art. 301-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - intentional access to child pornography using information and telecommunication systems, without the purpose of sale or distribution.

The man was sentenced to three years in prison, but was released on probation for two years. In addition, he is prohibited from engaging in activities related to the education, upbringing or organization of leisure activities for children for a period of three years. The man also has to reimburse the state for the costs of forensic examinations in the amount of UAH 2,133.

Recently, a foster father was accused of sexually abusing seven girls from a family-type orphanage. According to the investigation, the man had been systematically raping one minor ward for several years and committing lewd acts against six other girls. The suspect was detained in Ivano-Frankivsk region, where the family-type orphanage had moved from Kherson region.
