Lawmakers did not support the dismissal of the chairman of the supervisory board of Mykolaivvodokanal

Members of the Mykolaiv City Council did not approve the dismissal of Hanna Montavon, chair of the supervisory board of “Mykolaivvodokanal.” She had previously submitted a letter of resignation, but the motion failed to secure the required number of votes during the session.

This became known during the live broadcast of the city council meeting.

Before the vote, council members spent a long time discussing the work of the supervisory board and the need to amend the regulations governing its activities. One council member proposed placing Montavon on a “blacklist” due to the situation that had arisen.

Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych noted that the regulations governing the supervisory board need to be revised. According to him, members of the supervisory board also have their own proposals.

“We met with them this week to discuss, in principle, the candidacy of Dmytro Novytskyi and to review the supervisory board’s work in general. They also have their own proposals, which they will present to you for consideration,” Senkevych said.

In addition, one of the council members proposed including mechanisms to protect the city’s interests in future contracts.

The meeting participants also agreed that the regulations governing the supervisory board should be amended to include a provision requiring a mandatory report upon the dismissal of a supervisory board member—regardless of whether the dismissal is voluntary or at the initiative of the company’s owner.

 Senkevich stated that the changes planned forthe regulations governing the supervisory boardof “Mykolaivvodokanal” will subsequently apply to the regulations governing the supervisory boards of other municipal utilities in the city as well.

“We are making history together, friends. We are creating—well, not the Bible, but a constitution of corporate governance, including in Mykolaiv, and establishing rules for Ukraine,” said the mayor.

According to him, he inquired about the situation at a similar supervisory board at the water utility in Lviv, and no one had been dismissed there yet.

The council members had to restart the vote several times due to technical issues—the voting system was not working for some of them.

As a result, 26 deputies voted in favor of the draft resolution, none voted against it, and four abstained. A total of 30 deputies participated in the vote. The resolution was not adopted.

Recently, Hanna Montavon, Chair of the Supervisory Board of the municipal utility“Mykolaivvodokanal,” submitted a letter of resignation from the board of her own accord.

Montavon is also currently under police investigation.
