Prosecutors of the Prosecutor General's Office have sent to court an indictment against a 22-year-old resident of Odesa region who is charged with treason, preparation for a terrorist act, intentional damage to other people's property, purchase and storage of ammunition, and illegal manufacture of explosives.

This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office.

The pre-trial investigation established that the accused assisted a representative of the Russian Federation in conducting subversive activities against Ukraine for a monetary reward. His tasks, in particular, were to commit deliberate arson attacks on infrastructure facilities to harm the economic and state security of Ukraine.

Later, having made sure of the defendant's reliability and readiness to perform various tasks, a representative of the aggressor state contacted him via video and helped him to produce explosives for a terrorist act. After that, the accused assembled an improved explosive device, which they planned to place in a crowded place to commit an explosion.

However, the plan was not carried out, law enforcement officers detained a resident of Odesa region and during a search at his place of residence found and seized a manufactured improvised explosive device and, among other things, ammunition, grenades, TNT blocks.

The accused is currently being held in custody without bail. If proven guilty of the alleged crimes, he faces life imprisonment.

In July, the Security Service's counterintelligence and the National Police also detained a woman on Kulikove Pole in Odesa. According to law enforcement, on July 17, on the instructions of the occupants, the woman was supposed to bring a backpack with an improved explosive device (IED) into the administrative building of the TCC and JV at noon, when the maximum number of people was there.
