On the evening of May 16, a large-scale power outage occurred in the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region. After 23:00, the power went out in most settlements, and as of the morning, the electricity supply has not yet been restored.
This was reported on the page of the occupation enterprise Khersonenergo.
According to the occupation administration, the blackout was caused by "technological disruptions" in the power system of the occupied part of Zaporizhzhia region. At the same time, the occupation authorities do not name any timeframe for restoring power supply.
Skadovsk, Oleshky, and Holoprystan districts were partially left without electricity. Complete power outages were recorded in Chaplynsk, Kalanchak, Genichesk, Novotroitsk, Ivanivka, Nyzhniosirohoz, Verkhnorohachytsk, Hornostayivka, Velykolepetivka, Kakhovka districts, as well as in Nova Kakhovka.
Local residents have reported on social media about communication interruptions and water supply problems that arose after the power outage. The prolonged power outage may also cause problems with the operation of shops, pharmacies and ATMs.
There is no official information on the extent of the accident or possible damage to the energy infrastructure.
As a reminder, a large-scale power outage in the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region occurred in early April.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Russian military had actually organized a "human safari" in Kherson, hunting civilians with drones. The President emphasized the need to strengthen the protection of the city, including increasing the number of interceptors, electronic warfare equipment and crews.
In addition, earlier in Kherson, the Korabelny district was partially de-energized as a result of another enemy shelling.
