In Kherson, nine companies, including the Kulish Drama Theater, have been exempted from paying land tax in 2023.

The relevant order was signed by the head of the Kherson City Military Administration Yaroslav Shanko.

According to the document, nine enterprises and organizations whose land plots have been declared unfit for use due to the potential threat of explosive devices are exempt from the tax.

Among them is the Kherson Regional Academic Music and Drama Theater named after Mykola Kulish, which also received a 100% land tax exemption for 2023.

Thus, the owners and users of plots that are currently dangerous and cannot be used will not pay land tax or rent (in the case of communal land).

It is noted that this decision was made on the basis of the current tax and land legislation, as well as within the legal regime of martial law.

What is known about the drama theater

The Mykola Kulish Kherson Regional Academic Music and Drama Theater continues to be an important center of culture in Kherson, despite the war and constant threats. The building has been repeatedly damaged by Russian shelling.

On July 21, 2025, the theater was damaged after a shelling. The facade, a column, the front door and three windows in the theater-cafe were damaged, as reported by Intent.

There were other attacks, in particular, on the night of February 14, 2024, during enemy shelling, the building was heavily damaged, including many windows (about 36 windows).

In November 2023, significant damage to the theater's windows was also recorded.

The theater did not suspend its activities after the liberation of Kherson from occupation. During dangerous periods, performances are held not on the big stage in the main theater building, but in a safe shelter - an art hub in the basement.

The theater is also expanding its repertoire and supporting the team, even when conditions are difficult.
