A court has found a deputy of the Kakhovka District Council guilty of collaboration.

This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The traitor, found guilty of collaboration, was sentenced in absentia to 9 years in prison with confiscation of property. The investigation established that in September 2022, the convict agreed to cooperate with the occupiers, taking the position of the so-called "Head of the Land Relations Department" in the illegal "Department of Breeding Livestock, Crop Production and Land Relations" created by the occupation "Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of Kherson Region".

In November 2022, he became the head of this pseudo-department. In this position, the collaborator formed the apparatus of the illegal body, organized its activities and controlled the agricultural sector in the occupied territories. In particular, he was engaged in re-registration of agricultural enterprises under Russian law.

The sentence was passed in absentia, as the offender is currently hiding in Russia. The actual serving of the sentence will begin immediately after his arrest. The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the SBU Office in Kherson region.

Two former MPs from the banned OPFL, who sided with the enemy during the occupation of Kherson region, were convicted of collaboration. One of them used to be Oleksandr Vilkul 's confidant in the 2019 presidential election and now holds the position of deputy governor in Henichesk.

According to the case file, Oleksiy Skopych became the head of a department in the illegally created "Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of Kherson Oblast" in September 2022, and in November he became the head of the department.

Later, he was appointed "Deputy Minister of Agriculture," where he was responsible for the illegal transfer of land to Russian jurisdiction. He currently works as a deputy governor in Genichesk.

The court sentenced him to 9 years in prison in absentia, confiscation of property, including his house and land plots, and a 15-year ban on working in government after serving his sentence.
