Kherson allocates 14 million for reconstruction after shelling

The Kherson City Military Administration has approved the Accident and Disaster Prevention Program for 2026. It covers housing, social infrastructure, utilities and enterprises founded by the city council or financed from the budget of the Kherson territorial community.

The relevant order was signed by Yaroslav Shanko, head of the Kherson MVA.

The purpose of the program is to respond in a timely manner to emergencies, including those related to the military aggression of the Russian Federation, prevent man-made disasters and ensure the life support of the community residents.

The implementation of the Program is entrusted to the Department of Municipal Economy and ME "Parks of Kherson". The co-implementers are ME "Khersonmisksvitlo", Municipal Enterprise "VUVKG of Kherson", ME "Kherson Kherson", ME"Khersonelectrotrans", ME "Khersonteploenergo", contractors and philanthropists.

The total amount of funding for the Program is UAH 14,071,756. The funds will come from the budget of the Kherson territorial community, including the reserve fund, budgets of other levels, own funds of institutions and enterprises, as well as charitable contributions and other authorized sources.

The program provides for the purchase of fuels and lubricants, construction materials, tools, spare parts, consumables, as well as fencing tape and warning signs. The funds will also be used to engage contractors to carry out emergency repair and restoration work, including closing window openings, preserving load-bearing walls and roofs at housing, utility and social infrastructure facilities.

The key risks include accidents in heating networks in the cold season, destruction of non-residential buildings and structures, fires and explosions, shelling and other emergencies. Materials to eliminate the consequences of shelling are to be purchased byKherson Parks.

The program will allow for timely response to accidents in heating networks, building destruction, fires, explosions and other emergencies.

Kherson authorities have also planned more than UAH 85 million for the operation of utilities and maintenance of municipal infrastructure in 2025. Funding is provided for the maintenance of parks, street lighting, garbage collection, and salaries for utility workers.
