Judge refuses to close case on terrorist attack in Ochakiv

An attempt to blow up a car, a financial motive and discussions about evidence - the court made its first fundamental decision in the case of the alleged terrorist attack in Ochakiv. Despite the defense's objections, the indictment was not returned to the prosecutor.

The judge rejected the motion to return the indictment in the case of attempted terrorist attack. According to the investigation, the accused allegedly tried to plant an explosive device under a car.

During the preparatory hearing, the lawyers insisted that the document was drawn up with violations and did not meet the requirements of the Criminal Procedure Code.

The defense also claimed the lack of clear legal qualifications, incompleteness of the circumstances, violation of the right to defense and shortcomings of the pre-trial investigation, in particular regarding examinations and identification of the injured party.

According to the case file, the woman is charged with a completed attempted terrorist attack - allegedly, she was supposed to leave a package with an improvised explosive device under her car. At the same time, according to the defense, the accused believed that the package contained only incendiary mixture, and acted because of the promised monetary reward, without intending to commit a terrorist attack.

The prosecutor objected to the return of the act, emphasizing that the document was drawn up in accordance with the law, and the defense's arguments were not grounds for its rejection.

The court, having examined the materials, concluded that the indictment was properly drawn up and did not contain any violations that would interfere with the trial. As a result, the defense motion was dismissed, and the proceedings will continue to be considered on the merits.

Earlier, in Ochakiv, the court extended the detention of a woman accused of attempting a terrorist attack against a Ukrainian soldier. According to the investigation, she acted on the instructions of the Russian special services and tried to blow up the car of the commander of the military unit.
