An ex-judge of the Dzhankoy District Court of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea sided with the occupation authorities and is acting as a so-called 'judge' in the occupied part of Kherson region.

This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

In July 2024, while in the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region, the former judge agreed to be "appointed" to the so-called Kherson Regional Court, created by the occupation administration. He actually administered justice on behalf of and in the interests of the aggressor state, contributing to the formation and strengthening of the occupation system in the occupied territory.

The court found him guilty in absentia of collaboration (Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and sentenced him to 14 years in prison with disqualification to hold positions in state authorities, local governments, law enforcement and judicial bodies for 15 years, as well as confiscation of property.

The sentence will begin to be served from the moment of his arrest. The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine in Kherson region.

Earlier, the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol obtained verdicts in absentia for three former Ukrainian judges who betrayed their oath after the occupation of the peninsula. They were found guilty of treason and sentenced to 13 years in prison.

The prosecutor's office noted that two of the convicts took up positions as judges in the illegally created occupation 'Supreme Court of the Republic of Crimea', and the third became a judge in the 'Economic Court'. By their actions, they ensured the transition of the judicial system to Russian legislation and contributed to the functioning of the occupation judiciary.
