In the Odesa region, a village head voluntarily enlisted in the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Serhiy Cheban, the village head of Primorske in the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi District of the Odesa Region, voluntarily enlisted in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to Vasyl Reznichenko, head of the Lyman community, Vitaliy Cheban, a member of the village council, has also joined the ranks of the defenders.

He noted that the mobilization of these two officials has temporarily complicated the work of the village council’s administrative staff, as they handled a significant workload and helped community residents resolve important issues on a daily basis.

In light of this, the Lyman Village Council announced the need to strengthen its team. Community residents who are ready to work in local government and help people are invited to join the effort.

Vasyl Reznichenko thanked Serhiy and Vitaliy Cheban for their work and noted that their positions remain open for them, and the community hopes for their return after they complete their military service.

In November 2023, Serhiy Tetyukhin, first deputy to then-Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov, enlisted in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In March 2025, he was killed during a double missile strike on Odesa on March 15, where he had gone to rescue the victims.

It was also reported that Valentin Zaverukha, a judge of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi City and District Court, was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine and requested that the disciplinary case against him be closed. He is suspected of involvement in schemes to evade conscription and smuggle conscripts abroad.

Lyudmila Saltan, a judge of the Kyiv District Court of Odesa, who was suspended from the bench due to alleged extortion of a bribe, attempted to evade responsibility in a similar manner: She was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but her military unit filed a complaint against her after she reported for duty while intoxicated.
