Specialists from the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection have identified violations of sanitary regulations and the organization of meals for children in school cafeterias in the Odesa region. Based on the results of the inspections, 76 orders were issued to school administrators.
This was reported by the Main Directorate of the State Consumer Service in the Odesa region.
The service’s specialists notified local education departments of the identified violations.
During the inspections, inspectors thoroughly assessed compliance with the approved menu and nutritional standards, the proper storage of food items, meal schedules, and the temperature of prepared meals prior to serving.
They also separately checked the condition of kitchen equipment, refrigerators, and tableware; the availability of protective clothing for cooks; the timeliness of their medical examinations; and the proper maintenance of food rejection logs.
As of September 25, specialists had already inspected 220 general secondary education institutions. This work is being carried out as part of unscheduled state oversight measures in general secondary education institutions regarding the organization of school meals.
As previously reported by Intent, daily monitoring of school meal services has begun in the Odesa region following numerous complaints from parents. Inspections focus not only on the quality of ingredients and prepared meals but also on portion sizes, adherence to cooking procedures, and food presentation.
