An exhibition by Mykhailo Reva titled "My Home" has opened in front of City Hall in Odesa. It features three metal sculptures, scarred by explosions, that were previously exhibited in Berlin and Paris.
An Intenta photojournalist has already visited the exhibition.
According to the Odessa City Council, the “My Home” exhibition is part of a series of works that Mykhailo Reva has been creating since 2022. Previously, sculptures from this collection were exhibited in Berlin and Paris, and now they are on display in the artist’s hometown.
Metal—battered by explosions and pierced by hundreds of shards—served as the primary material for the compositions. The sculptor used these traces of destruction as physical evidence of the war and Russian attacks on civilians and their homes.
Doors became the central motif of the works. For the artist, they symbolize the boundary between the outside world and home—a place associated with safety, comfort, and loved ones.
These works preserve the image of the door—the threshold through which a person returns home. Now, the mangled metal frames a void. “It is important to me that, through the deformed form, the viewer senses the person against whom this destructive force was directed,” noted sculptor Mykhailo Reva.
The title of the exhibition, “My Home,” is phrased in the first person. According to the artist’s concept, every visitor, by uttering these words, becomes part of an artistic narrative about the right to a home, return, and a safe life—a right shared by all Ukrainians.
Mykhailo Reva is a renowned Ukrainian sculptor and Honored Artist of Ukraine who lives and works primarily in Odesa. He is the creator of many famous art installations in Odesa, including “The Twelfth Chair,” “The Tree of Love,” the “Spring” fountain, and “Odesa Time.”
Reva also creates monumental works, graphic art, and sculptures dedicated to the events of the Russian-Ukrainian war. In 2026, he was awarded the title of “Honorary Citizen of the Odesa Region.”
