Olena Buinevych, director of the Department of Education and Science of the Odesa City Council, resigned from her position in November 2025. She had served as head of the department since January 2015, when then-Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov appointed her as acting director of the department. At that time, she had already been named “Teacher of the Year 2014” and was serving as principal of School No. 44.
Earlier, a court had prohibited the political party “Trust the Deeds,” as well as the Odesa City and Regional Territorial Election Commissions, from considering, voting on, or making decisions regarding the recall of deputies of the Odesa City and Regional Councils through a popular initiative. The decision is subject to immediate enforcement.
The plaintiff in this case challenged the procedure for convening and forming the conference of the party’s Odesa city organization, which was scheduled to take place on August 13, 2026, on the grounds that the party failed to properly notify the public of the conference’s convening, nor had it conductedanopen and accessibleprocedurefor the nomination and election of conference delegates.
