In Mykolaiv, young people will receive $50,000 for projects focused on inclusion and empowerment

<span><span><span><span><span><span>The winners of the "Youth Participatory Budget" project have been announced in Mykolaiv. Out of 15 projects, 5 were selected based on the number of votes they received from local residents. </span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>The following projects received the most support from city residents in 2026:</span></span></span></span></span></span>

• <span><span><span><span><span><span>Inclusive Smart Hub—a space for digital remediation and virtual adaptation. It involves creating a digital space for comprehensive remedial work with children with special educational needs using VR/AR technologies. </span></span></span></span></span></span>
• <span><span><span><span><span><span>Development of rowing at the indoor pool of the “Olimp” Children’s and Youth Sports School: inclusion, rehabilitation, and training of future champions of the Mykolaiv region. The project aims to establish a training facility for athletic training, veteran rehabilitation, and the development of inclusive sports. </span></span></span></span></span></span>
• <span><span><span><span><span><span>An innovative youth space to create a barrier-free environment in Mykolaiv. It aims to establish a youth engineering hub for the development and prototyping of social innovations.</span></span></span></span></span></span>
• <span><span><span><span><span><span>Family Square: a space for strength, movement, and recovery. It involves the creation of safe zones for active leisure.</span></span></span></span></span></span>
• <span><span><span><span><span><span>Mykolaiv City Student Leadership Space. This initiative aims to organize educational events, training sessions, and meetings for student government leaders, as well as to support youth initiatives.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>Each of these projects will receive funding of up to 10,000 U.S. dollars. The initiatives will be implemented by the end of the year. </span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>Voting for the projects was available online via the e-DEM platform and offline at designated locations. This year, 8,747 Mykolaiv residents participated in the voting. As of June 16, the leading projects were “Mykolaiv City Student Leadership Space,” “Inclusive Smart Hub,” “Energy Hall Game Room,” and “SafeSchool Vision.” Two of them maintained their lead until the very end. </span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>The “Youth Participatory Budget” competition is being held in Mykolaiv for the second year in a row. In 2025, 10 initiatives won, each receiving 8,000 U.S. dollars. </span></span></span></span></span></span>

The competition is implemented with financial support from the Save the Children Foundation.
