Posts on Telegram supporting Russian aggression and endorsing the occupation led to a criminal conviction for a Mykolaiv resident.

This was reported by Intent, citing the verdict of the Ingulsky District Court of Mykolaiv.

According to the investigation, between 2023 and 2025, the woman posted comments and shared messages on Telegram in which she endorsed the occupation of Ukrainian territories, denied that Russian troops were responsible for strikes on civilian targets, and called Russian servicemen “heroes.”

During the trial, the defendant fully admitted her guilt. She stated that she had changed her views after witnessing the consequences of Russian bombings, condemned Russia’s aggression, and attributed her actions to the influence of pro-Russian Telegram channels and her unstable emotional state. She also asked the court to take into account that she cares for her two elderly parents.

The court sentenced her to five years in prison without confiscation of property. At the same time, given her sincere remorse, positive character reference, and the probation officer’s report, she was released from serving her sentence and placed on a two-year probationary period. In addition, the woman must reimburse over 6,600 hryvnias in expenses for the expert examination.

Furthermore, the judge ordered the confiscation of the cell phone used to disseminate the illegal messages for the benefit of the state, and that the rest of the seized property be returned to the owner once the verdict becomes final.

Also in the Mykolaiv region, a court sentenced a service member who had transmitted information about the locations of Ukrainian military units via Telegram.

Despite the legal prohibition on disclosing information about the deployment locations of Ukrainian military units, on January 25, 2026, he twice sent data on the areas where military units were concentrated to an unidentified person via the Telegram messaging app.
