In the first half of 2025, 44 criminal cases related to corruption and public sector crimes were brought to court in Mykolaiv region. All proceedings were investigated by investigators of the local State Bureau of Investigation.

This was announced by the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, Ihor Domuyev.

Mr. Domuyev spoke about the status of criminal cases related to abuse of office.

According to him, in the first half of 2025, law enforcement officers submitted 22 indictments in corruption cases to court. They also sent 20 indictments for crimes in the budget sphere, of which one case was investigated as part of an organized group. Two more criminal proceedings have also been referred to court. In addition, the prosecutor's office opened 10 cases regarding SBI investigations.

The prosecutor did not provide data for comparison with the previous year, nor did he report on specific districts of the region or details of investigations, which makes it difficult to assess the extent of abuses and the work of the prosecutor's office. According to the prosecutor, all the cases were investigated by investigators from the State Bureau of Investigation's territorial office in Mykolaiv.

Recently, the police launched a criminal investigation into alleged abuses by Mykolaiv City Council officials during a tender for waste sorting worth more than UAH 1.25 billion.

Law enforcement officers are also investigating a statement by the deputy mayor of Pivdenoukrainsk, who accuses Mayor Valeriy Onufrienko of forging documents and illegally employing an official, which he claims caused the community losses of over UAH 910,000.

In addition, the mayor of Bashtanka , Oleksandr Berehovoi, was suspected of embezzlement during the purchase of winter clothing for the military. According to the investigation, he embezzled about a third of the money allocated for this purpose through a scheme with inflated prices. Berehovoi signed contracts with two private entrepreneurs worth more than UAH 1.1 million to purchase 150 sets of winter clothing and boots.
