On August 16, the Russian occupation army finished off the first and only "green school" in Ukraine and the only one in the Kherson region, which was created on the basis of school No. 21 in Antonivka.

According to Roman Mrochko, the head of the Kherson MVA, the racists attacked the unique school twice in half a day, causing irreparable damage.

The official said in a post that the school, which was built with the help of the Finnish government, had received its first two hundred students in 2016. "It was an extraordinary event for the whole of Ukraine - the green school was built according to European energy-saving principles. It had an air purification and recovery system installed on the ceiling. There were no pipes or batteries inside the building. The heat was provided by solar panels on the roof.

While extinguishing the fire that finally destroyed the "green school," rescuers came under repeated enemy fire. A fire truck was damaged. No people were injured.

Earlier it was reported that construction of an underground school had begun in Kherson. In early July, during a meeting in Kherson, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oksen Lisovyi was briefed on plans to build an underground school in Kherson, where 900 children will study in two shifts. Work in this direction is already underway, and land plots for the future school have been selected. The construction period for the facility is 6 to 9 months.

It was also mentioned that in the Kherson region, in Ivanivka of the Vysokopil community , a school damaged by Russian shells is being rebuilt. This request was made by the locals themselves. Today, the windows have been replaced, the roof repaired, and the first floor has been painted and the heating system installed. Work continues on the second floor. At the same time, the shelter is being equipped. About a hundred schoolchildren will be able to stay there at the same time. We discussed the possibility of dividing the shelter into four classrooms and equipping them with desks.
