The doctor agreed to collaborate with the Russians, became the head of the Holoprystan District Hospital in the Kherson region, and persuaded medical staff to apply for Russian passports. The court sentenced her to 12 years in prison and ordered the confiscation of her property.

This is stated in the verdict of the Kherson City Court dated October 19.

According to the case file, after the capture of Hola Prystan, the defendant accepted the occupation administration’s offer to become the acting chief physician of the illegally established “Holo-Prystan Central District Hospital.” The facility was created on the premises of a Ukrainian municipal hospital.

The court found that the woman not only assumed a leadership position but also helped the occupying authorities organize the hospital’s operations. Specifically, on December 22, 2022, she ensured its re-registration under Russian legislation.

She also recruited medical staff, appointed them to positions, and campaigned among her colleagues. According to one witness, during meetings, the woman persuaded medical staff to apply for Russian citizenship, citing potential problems with employment, salaries, and social benefits.

In addition, starting in August 2022, the defendant organized and personally distributed salaries to hospital employees in Russian rubles. The court deemed these actions to be the implementation of decisions made by the occupation administration.

The court also examined documents regarding the establishment of the occupation-run medical facility, online publications, video recordings, and the testimony of a medical worker who was employed at the hospital during the occupation.

The court found her guilty of aiding an aggressor state and sentenced her to 12 years in prison, and barred her from holding positions in state authorities, local self-government bodies, and state- or municipally-owned medical facilities for 15 years. In addition, all property belonging to her is to be confiscated in favor of the state.

Her share in a two-room apartment measuring 49.6 square meters and a land plot measuring 0.1424 hectares remain under seizure.
