The Odesa Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support responded to the detention of one of the military personnel of the TCC in Odesa by stating that he had been on leave since February 6.

According to the regional TCC, the detainee did not perform his official duties during the commission of the offenses of which he is suspected.

"Decisions on removing him from the wanted list, determining his fitness and sending him to military units are made exclusively in accordance with the procedure established by law and cannot be the subject of private agreements or an instrument of pressure. Procedures for booking employees of critical infrastructure enterprises are also regulated by separate regulations and are not decided solely by officials of the TCC and JV," the regional TCC reminded.

What happened

On February 12, the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa Oblast reported the detention of a TCC serviceman on suspicion of extortion and bribery. According to the police, the serviceman was working in the notification department and had access to the citizens' records. Using this opportunity, the suspect resorted to illegal actions. He searched for men who were wanted for violating the rules of military registration and promised to help them solve this problem.

The offender guaranteed that in exchange for UAH 9 thousand he would agree with his colleagues to remove them from the wanted list. And for $6,000, he would also employ the man at a critical infrastructure enterprise to get a reservation for military service. If the man tries to refuse, he will be mobilized to a military unit and immediately sent to the combat zone.

At the first meeting, he told him to bring copies of his documents, photographs, and part of the agreed amount. He also said that the meeting would not take place without the money. The police documented the illegal actions of the TCC serviceman and detained him while he was receiving part of the money for starting the employment process - $3,000. If found guilty, the man faces up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property.
