Ukraine and its European partners have planned to integrate transport routes into the European network, including the Alexandroupolis-Odesa section. Representatives of Ukraine, neighboring countries, and the European Commission discussed the development of the corridor to increase economic resilience and mobility in times of war.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine.

In early September, an online meeting of representatives of the ministries responsible for transport and infrastructure of Ukraine, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria and Moldova, as well as the European Commission, was held.

The main topic of discussion was the TEN-T Baltic Sea-Black Sea-Aegean Sea transport corridor, with a special emphasis on routes connecting the Greek port of Alexandroupolis with Ukrainian Odesa via Varna and Constanta.

Ukraine was represented by Alyona Shkrum , First Deputy Minister of Communities and Territories Development, and Deputy Ministers Oleksiy Balesta and Serhiy Derkach.

Alyona Shkrum emphasized that the development of new transport and logistics routes is key to Ukraine's economic sustainability and integration into the European space, and noted the importance of creating alternative routes to reduce the vulnerability of international logistics in times of war.

Ukrainian representatives emphasized the need to develop the infrastructure of the Danube region and its full integration into the TEN-T network, which will increase the capacity of the Danube ports, create sustainable alternatives to sea and land routes, and integrate the transport systems of Ukraine and Moldova into the European network.

Representatives of the European Commission confirmed the strategic importance of the region for the expansion of the Baltic Sea-Black Sea-Aegean Sea corridor and expressed their readiness to consider funding opportunities.

The participants agreed to continue coordinating efforts to develop the corridor, in particular the Alexandroupolis-Odesa section, which should strengthen Ukraine's integration into the European transport space.

Since the launch of the Ukrainian sea corridor, Odesa region ports have shipped over 137 million tons of cargo to more than 5,300 vessels. More than 84 million tons of this volume are agricultural products of Ukrainian producers. Thanks to the corridor, goods from Ukraine are supplied to 54 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East, which helps maintain stable food prices and reduces the risk of famine in countries dependent on grain imports.
