Former Kherson prosecutor charged with high treason

Former Kherson prosecutor Petrenko was charged with high treason. He headed the departments of the fake Ministry of Tourism in the occupied Kherson region.

This is evidenced by the suspicion of the Prosecutor General's Office.

The State Bureau of Investigation has notified former prosecutor Konstantin Petrenko of suspicion of treason.

According to the investigation, he started working in the prosecutor's office in 2000 as an investigator at the Dniprovsky District Prosecutor's Office in Kherson. Later he worked in various positions in the prosecutor's office of Kherson region, and since 2021 he has been a prosecutor of the Kakhovka District Prosecutor's Office.

After Russia's full-scale invasion and occupation of part of the Kherson region, Petrenko, according to the investigation, voluntarily sided with the occupation authorities. In July 2022, in the temporarily occupied Kherson, he took a position as a leading specialist in legal, personnel and office work in the occupation Department of Tourism and Resorts of the occupation administration of the Kherson region. Two months later, he was promoted and started working as the head of the department in the fake Ministry of Tourism of Kherson region.

Since July 2023, as law enforcement officers found out, Petrenko became the Deputy Minister of Tourism of the occupation administration of Kherson region, actually performing managerial functions in an illegal government body created by the aggressor state.

The Qualification and Disciplinary Commission of Prosecutors dismissed Petrenko from his position in the Ukrainian prosecutor's office for violating the rules of prosecutorial ethics and internal regulations.

According to the Myrotvorets resource, Konstantin Petrenko is identified as a traitor to the Motherland and an accomplice of Russian fascist invaders and terrorists. The database states that he is involved in the encroachment on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and is an accomplice in the crimes of the Russian authorities against Ukraine and its citizens.

According to the resource, Petrenko voluntarily cooperated with the occupiers and worked in the structures of the illegal government as "First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Resorts and Tourism of the Kherson region." It is also noted that before he started cooperating with the occupation administration, he held the position of prosecutor of the Kherson Region District Prosecutor's Office.

At the same time, Ilya Karamalikov, a deputy of the Kherson City Council accused of treason, who was detained in the spring of 2022, has been released from the Kryvyi Rih pre-trial detention center. He was released on bail of over UAH 900,000.
