In Odesa, law enforcement officers detained a man accused of high treason for collaborating with the occupation authorities in Kherson region. Despite the fact that he had been hiding for a long time, his criminal case is already being considered by the court.

This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office.

A man accused of high treason for working for the occupation administration during the temporary occupation of the Kherson region was detained in Odesa. His whereabouts were established on May 28, 2026, after which law enforcement officers detained him.

According to the investigation, the resident of the village of Radensk, Kherson region, worked in the paramilitary security of Ukrzaliznytsia before the full-scale invasion. After the seizure of the region, he, according to the investigation, went over to the side of the aggressor state and began serving in the illegally created Kherson paramilitary security detachment, which operated under the occupation structure of the Kherson Railway.

Investigators claim that as a rifleman, the man provided security for the occupation authorities' cargo, in particular related to the transportation of weapons and material resources.

After the liberation of the right-bank part of Kherson region, the suspect, according to law enforcement, hid from the investigation. In May 2025, he was notified in absentia of suspicion of high treason, put on the wanted list, and in July of the same year, the indictment was submitted to the court. After his detention in Odesa, the court, at the request of the prosecutor, imposed a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention.

The court in Odesa region also found two former military personnel and a woman guilty of treason. At the time of the crime, the accused was the chief sergeant of a military unit.

In April 2024, he allegedly began looking for contacts of representatives of the Russian special services on his own, and when he found them, he began to fulfill their tasks for a monetary reward. It was a matter of checking the location of military facilities with the provision of coordinates and photographs.
