Since the beginning of 2026, 17 residents of Odesa region have already been suspected of treason, 12 of whom are men aged 21-48, and five are women aged 28-60.

This was reported by the press service of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office.

After completing the pre-trial investigation, prosecutors will send these cases to court for consideration on the merits. In particular, prosecutors sent to court the case of a 41-year-old resident of Izmail, who was notified of suspicion in January.

According to the prosecutors, the case file shows that in September 2025, the Izmail resident began to look for a way to contact representatives of the Russian Federation's special services on his own. He then established contact via Telegram and agreed to provide the representative of the aggressor country with prohibited information for a fee.

His task was to collect and transmit data on the location of military facilities, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard, as well as information on the movement of military equipment in the Odesa region.

To clarify the coordinates, the recruited man sent screenshots from Google Maps showing the locations of Ukrainian military and equipment. In addition, he tried to expand the network of cooperation with representatives of the Russian Federation, looking for people ready to cooperate with the enemy.

Earlier, the Dobroslavsky District Court of Odesa Region found two former servicemen and a woman guilty of high treason. At the time of the crime, the accused was the chief sergeant of a military unit. In April 2024, he allegedly began looking for contacts of representatives of the Russian special services on his own, and when he found them, he began to carry out their tasks for a monetary reward.
