Odesa Oblast plans to raise more than EUR 6 million to restore irrigation infrastructure. These funds should help modernize key facilities and increase the efficiency of water supply to local lands.

This is stated in the Program of Socio-Economic and Cultural Development of Odesa Region for 2026.

In 2026, UAH 106 million was planned for the reconstruction of irrigation systems in Odesa region. Currently, out of a total of 226.9 thousand hectares of irrigated land, only 35-40 thousand hectares are irrigated, which significantly limits agricultural productivity. This is stated in the Program of Socio-Economic and Cultural Development of the Region for 2026, published on the website of the Odesa Regional Council.

As part of the program, design estimates have already been developed for the restoration and modernization of 12 state land reclamation facilities. Three projects are currently being implemented: Izmail, Tatarbunary, and Nahirnyansky. Over UAH 106 million has been allocated from the regional budget for these purposes.

In addition to government funding, the reconstruction is being financed with grants from Italian partners in the amount of EUR 6.1 million. These investments are aimed at modernizing irrigation systems, which will allow for more efficient use of water, reduce losses and increase irrigation productivity. According to experts, such steps are critical in the face of frequent droughts and climate change and will contribute to food security in the region and Ukraine as a whole.

Modernization of irrigation systems will not only increase irrigation efficiency but also open up new opportunities for agriculture in Odesa region. As a result, the agricultural sector will be able to increase yields, improve crop resilience to climate change, and attract additional investment in the region's development.

Since the beginning of the year, agricultural enterprises of Odesa region have received UAH 3.4 billion under the state program "Affordable Loans 5-7-9%". Odesa region ranked first among Ukrainian regions in terms of funding, ahead of even Kyiv. Loans were taken out by 523 agricultural enterprises, which is also higher than in Kyiv region.

At the same time, the region was second to Kirovohrad region, where 570 companies received loans worth UAH 2.9 billion. In total, since the beginning of the year, more than 11,800 agricultural enterprises in Ukraine have raised more than UAH 84.7 billion.
