A technical supervision engineer caused more than one million hryvnias in damage to the state during the reconstruction of a kindergarten in Kherson region.

According to the regional prosecutor's office, the man was notified of being suspected of official negligence, i.e. improper performance of official duties, which caused grave consequences for the state interests.

According to the investigation, in 2019-2020, the suspect, as the person responsible for overseeing the reconstruction of a kindergarten in the Muzykivska community, failed to fulfill his duties, in particular, he did not check the quality of the work.

Instead, the engineer signed certificates of completion that did not correspond to reality. This resulted in over UAH 1 million being transferred from the local budget to the contractor's account.

The prosecutor's office noted that the issue of choosing a preventive measure for the suspect is currently being decided.

Meanwhile, in Kherson, a former school director faces 12 years in prison for embezzlement of budget funds. During her tenure, she distributed bonuses worth almost UAH 2.5 million. Abusing her official position, the principal issued an order to award bonuses to 44 employees in July and 12 in August. The total amount of illegal payments amounted to UAH 2.44 million, which was confirmed by a forensic economic examination. Investigators found that the former manager was aware of the illegality of her actions, but still made the decision to pay bonuses.

In addition, financial irregularities worth more than one million hryvnias were found in Vysokopillya, Kherson region, during the restoration of damaged houses.

Also in Kherson region, the prosecutor's office suspended a dubious contract for the repair of a shelter in the Dar'yivka community, which could have cost the budget UAH 11.4 million.
