Russian troops have struck residential areas in Kherson region, destroying houses and injuring local residents.

This was reported by the head of the regional military administration , Oleksandr Prokudin.

According to the official, the shelling damaged 19 private houses, as well as a gas pipeline, an outbuilding and a car.

The attack killed one person and wounded two others.

The Russian invaders keep trying to break through to the right bank of the Kherson region, suffering heavy losses during the attacks.

According to the Atesh guerrilla movement, the units of the 70th Motorized Rifle Brigade, which is based on the left bank of the Kherson region, are in a difficult situation due to losses.

"A recent attempt to storm the right bank ended in disaster: entire platoons did not return, which seriously undermined the morale of the soldiers," the agents said.

However, as Atesh clarifies, the Russian military command continues to send its soldiers on assaults to "find a more favorable place for the next landing."

On December 20, the Ukrainian Defense Forces thwarted the Russian occupiers' plans to land sabotage and reconnaissance groups near Kherson in the right-bank part of Kherson Oblast. On this day, Kherson suffered the largest shelling since 2022. The explosions did not stop from four in the morning. Russian troops fired from all types of weapons available to them, firing more than 1,000 shells. There is not a single neighborhood that was not affected.

Most of the strikes hit residential areas. Rescuers extinguished more than a dozen fires. Medics, law enforcement and utility workers were on the scene.

At the same time, pro-Russian telegram channels were actively spreading fake reports about the alleged forced evacuation of Kherson residents. However, this information was untrue and aimed at creating panic among the population.

The head of Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration Vitaliy Kim assured of his readiness to help Kherson residents if necessary.
