Due to the blockade of Oleshky, attempts to bring in food end in death

The temporarily occupied town of Oleshky on the left bank of the Kherson region is on the verge of survival due to a complete blockade organized by the Russian military.

This was reported in a comment to Ukrinform by the head of the Oleshky MVA , Tetiana Hasanenko.

According to her, since mid-January 2026, it has been possible to deliver food to the town only once. Any other attempts to bring bread or medicine ended in human casualties - volunteers and locals die under targeted drone attacks on roads that have effectively turned into death trails.

Hasanenko emphasized the blatant cynicism of the enemy: Russia has been exploiting the theme of the 'blockade of Leningrad' for years, while at the same time organizing identical terror for the residents of Kherson region. Today in Oleshky there is no food, no quality water, no electricity, no gas and no heat. Even an attempt to collect firewood to heat homes can be fatal due to dense mining and constant explosions.

According to rough estimates, about 6,000 people out of the 40,000 who lived here before the full-scale invasion remain in the community. Those who were unable to leave are forced to live in conditions of unsanitary conditions and constant drone attacks. The Russian occupiers are ignoring any norms of international humanitarian law, failing to meet the basic needs of the people and deliberately blocking any outside assistance.

The people who remain in Oleshky are forced to live in constant danger and have significantly limited opportunities for movement, as the roads are littered with explosive devices and every exit poses a mortal threat.

Earlier, the court found a resident of Kherson region guilty of collaboration, who voluntarily cooperated with the enemy during the occupation. Prosecutors of the Oleshky District Prosecutor's Office fully proved her guilt in court.
