Due to a fuel shortage in Crimea, the largest quarry and the harvest have been halted

In the temporarily occupied Crimea, near Belogorsk, one of the peninsula’s largest quarries has suspended operations due to a fuel shortage.

This was reported byKrym.Realii, citing local activists.

According to them, operations have completely ceased at the quarry, where three mining companies operate simultaneously.

“In Belogorsk, where one of Crimea’s largest quarries is located, operations have been suspended. For the first time in a decade, dust isn’t spreading for kilometers around,” the publication’s source said.

The source also claims that due to a fuel shortage, the harvest campaign in the fields near the quarry has also come to a halt.

According to him, ripe grain remains in the fields because agricultural machinery cannot operate due to a lack of diesel fuel.

The source noted that a similar situation is being observed in other regions of occupied Crimea, which, in his assessment, has significantly hampered economic activity on the peninsula.

The Russian occupation authorities in Crimea have not officially commented on reports of the quarry’s shutdown or fuel supply issues.

Recently, Sergey Aksyonov, the Gauleiter of occupied Crimea, acknowledged that the fuel crisis on the peninsula will not end anytime soon. According to him, no significant volumes of fuel are expected to be available for sale in the near future, and problems with electricity supply will be addressed on a “case-by-case basis.”

As a reminder, following a large-scale attack by Ukrainian drones on military facilities in Kerch, the occupying authorities of Crimea and Sevastopol declaredaregionalstateof emergency. Officially, this was explained by the need to promptly resolve economic issues, though no specific reasons for this decision were given.

The Russian authorities also introduced temporary restrictionson electricity supply. The Russian-controlled company “Krymenergo” stated that the power outages are necessary to prevent the power grid from becoming overloaded and to avoid large-scale accidents.
