Odesa law enforcement officers exposed and detained a doctor who, for $7,000, tried to help a conscript avoid mobilization by falsifying documents about his mother's health.

This was reported by the press service of the National Police in Odesa region.

According to the investigation, the doctor worked in a private medical center and offered to issue a "medical legend": a fictitious diagnosis of his mother, who allegedly needs constant care. Based on this document, the woman's son could receive a deferment from military service as a guardian.

For this service, the doctor demanded $7,000 in installments: $4,000 upfront and $3,000 after the paperwork was completed. To implement the scheme, he asked for copies of personal documents.

Operatives of the Odesa Department of the Internal Security Department of the National Police, together with investigators of the Odesa District Department No. 1, organized a special operation and detained the doctor immediately after receiving the advance payment of $4 thousand. The money and other evidence of illegal activity were seized during the search.

Law enforcement officers served the man a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - "abuse of influence". He faces up to 8 years in prison for this crime. The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the Kyiv District Prosecutor's Office of Odesa.

Also in Odesa, law enforcement officers exposed doctors of military medical commissions (MMCs) who issued fake medical certificates for money to evade mobilization. According to the investigation, the doctors issued fake certificates of unfitness for military service to conscripts, allowing them to avoid mobilization illegally.

The investigation found that the doctors were acting as part of a large-scale corruption scheme that was previously exposed by SBI investigators. The organizer of the scheme was a local resident of Odesa, who involved several accomplices in the case: an employee of the Service Support Center of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, an employee of the Primorsk TCC and JV, and two other intermediaries.
