Deputy Head of District TCC in Odesa region detained for taking bribe

Law enforcement officers detained the deputy head of the district territorial center for recruitment and social support for extortion and bribery.

This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa region.

Law enforcement officers found that the head of the mobilization accounting department, deputy head of one of the departments of the Odesa District Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support, was engaged in corrupt activities. Thus, the man demanded $3,000 from a person liable for military service who violated the rules of military registration for removing him from the wanted list.

He sent his subordinate to collect the money, which was transferred in two tranches. After the client handed over the second part of the bribe in the amount of USD 2 thousand, law enforcement officers detained the suspect in a procedural order. The funds were seized as material evidence.

The military officer was served a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - obtaining an unlawful benefit for himself for performing any action using his official position in the interests of the person providing the unlawful benefit, combined with extortion of unlawful benefit.

The sanction for this crime is imprisonment for up to 10 years with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years, with confiscation of property.

The court imposed on the suspect a custodial measure of restraint with the right to be released on bail in the amount of UAH 1 million 211 thousand 200.

Earlier, prosecutors of the Odesa Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Southern Region served a notice of suspicion to the head of a fuel and lubricants warehouse of one of the electronic warfare battalions
