City Council official exposed in Odesa for "selling" places on the beach for $1,500

The head of one of the departments of the Peresypskyi district administration of the Odesa City Council allowed trade on one of the city's beaches for 1,500 USD.

According to the Prosecutor's Office of Odesa region, the suspect demanded money from a citizen for assistance in granting permission to place a retail outlet on Luzanivka beach in Odesa. In case of refusal, the official threatened to refuse to allow the retail outlet to be located there.

"The official was detained red-handed in a parking lot near a supermarket in one of the city's neighborhoods while receiving the agreed amount of bribe," the statement said.

Currently, prosecutors have filed a motion with the court to impose a custodial measure of restraint on him. The issue of his removal from office is also being considered. He is charged with extortion and receiving an unlawful benefit.

Earlier in Odesa, a deputy head of one of the departments of the Main Department of the State Geocadastre of the region was detained for bribery , demanding USD 3 thousand for the preparation of a land management project and assistance in allocating a land plot to private ownership. At the same time, the official threatened to create obstacles if he refused the bribe.

Earlier, Marat Kasimov , acting director of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning , was detained in Odesa while receiving a $10,000 bribe.

In February, police detained an official of the architecture and urban planning department of one of the city councils in Odesa region. She demanded a kickback from an entrepreneur for issuing permits for retail food sales in the market. The official was served a notice of suspicion and a measure of restraint was chosen. She faces imprisonment, deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities and confiscation of property
