An Odesa military official was put on trial for bribery of 45,000 hryvnias. He promised to help two soldiers return to service and avoid criminal liability.

This was reported by the press service of the Odesa Regional Military Criminal Investigation and Prosecution Department.

Odesa law enforcement officers sent a case to court against the deputy commander of a military unit for abuse of office. The official, a 37-year-old psychological support officer, promised to "help" two soldiers who had left the service without permission to avoid criminal liability and return to service after military service. For these services, he demanded 45 thousand hryvnias.

The incident was exposed last fall. Law enforcement officers documented that the officer guaranteed appointment to positions in the military unit and promised to influence the leadership and prosecutors not to bring the military to justice.

After receiving a part of the bribe , law enforcement officers detained the offender in a procedural order. The court imposed on him a preventive measure in the form of detention with the right to be released on bail, which the suspect used, and removed him from office.

The pre-trial investigation has now been completed, and the indictment has been sent to court. The official was charged with taking a bribe to influence public officials. The sanction of the article provides for up to five years in prison.

Also, on February 9, the Primorskyi Court of Odesa began consideration of the case of the former head of the Odesa Regional Territorial Center for Manning and Social Support, Yevhen Borysov, who is accused of unauthorized leaving the place of service and obstructing the Armed Forces.

The court determined the procedure for examining the evidence. After hearing all the parties, the judge ruled that they would be examined in each case separately: first, written evidence, then witnesses, and then the accused. However, she noted that the witnesses would be questioned simultaneously on two indictments, as they were repeated in the cases.
