Cultural activist Lala Aleskerova passes away in Odesa

Lala Aleskerova, a cultural activist, researcher, and cultural management expert, has passed away in Odesa. She devoted decades to the development of the city's cultural environment, working at the Odesa Literary Museum, the Odesa National Opera, and on the creation of the Odesa Cultural Development Strategy.

This was reported by colleagues and friends of the cultural figure.

Lala Aleskerova, a longtime researcher at the Odesa Literary Museum, cultural manager, author of numerous artistic and educational projects, died in Odesa.

From 1988 to 2010, she worked at the Odesa Literary Museum, where she researched the history of literary Odesa and the city's cultural heritage. Later, she continued her work at the Odesa National Opera, holding the position of Assistant General Director for Public Relations and a leading researcher.

In 2024, she became the head of the working group of the Odesa Cultural Development Roadmap and one of the key developers of the Odesa Cultural Development Strategy 2025-2035. She actively worked on the formation of the city's modern cultural policy, involving representatives of the creative sector in strategic sessions and public discussions.

Aleskerova was also a member of the Odesa - UNESCO City of Literature project team, chaired the organizing committee of the Green Wave International Book Festival for many years, and participated in the creation of online educational courses in the field of cultural development.

Her colleagues and representatives of Odesa's cultural community call her one of the people who shaped the city's modern cultural image and popularized Odesa's literary heritage in Ukraine and abroad.

Also in April, a longtime employee of the Odesa Archaeological Museum, Liudmyla Polishchuk, who had devoted more than half a century to museum work, passed away in Odesa. She was not only the keeper of unique collections, but also a mentor to several generations of scholars.
