The Crimean Prosecutor's Office and the Office of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea will hold a presentation of the project "War Crimes in Crimea" in Kyiv.

This was reported by Radio Liberty.

According to the Mission, an open media briefing dedicated to the presentation of this important media project will be held on October 8 at the Ukraine Media Center in Kyiv. The event is expected to present materials and evidence collected on crimes committed on the territory of the peninsula since its occupation.

The main types of crimes recorded on the temporarily occupied territory of the ARC, including illegal deportation, violation of property rights and forced mobilization, will be presented during the discussion. The briefing will be attended by:

The speakers will talk about the activities of law enforcement agencies of the autonomy in documenting the crimes of the occupation authorities, as well as the role of applicants in international processes of bringing the perpetrators to justice. According to the Crimean prosecutor's office, criminal proceedings have already been opened in Ukraine regarding more than 3,800 war crimes and crimes against the foundations of national security committed by Russians in Crimea. So far, Ukrainian courts have handed down about 200 verdicts in this category of cases, and another 580 cases are currently being heard.

This work confirms the previously stated position of the authorities. In January 2023, the then presidential spokesperson Tamila Tasheva stated that ''one of Ukraine's priorities after the de-occupation of Crimea will be to identify and bring to justice those who contributed to the Russian annexation of the peninsula, committed crimes against humanity and war crimes.
