The Kherson Oncology Center decided to turn the basement into a modern shelter that will protect patients and doctors during shelling. The project involves the complete re-equipment of the premises with medical equipment, autonomous systems and conditions for the safe work of personnel in emergency situations.

This is evidenced by the DREAM system data.

In Kherson, on the territory of the Kherson Regional Cancer Center, the KhRC planned to reconstruct the basement of the building "B". It is planned to equip a modern shelter here - a civil defense structure that will ensure the safety of patients and medical staff. The facility is located in Antonivka village.

The project involves the complete re-equipment of the basement to meet safety standards and ensure the autonomous operation of the facility in emergency situations. It is planned to modernize structures, strengthen walls and ceilings, install ventilation, water and electricity systems, as well as equip warning and evacuation management systems. In addition, the shelter is to be equipped with modern medical equipment and conditions for staff to work in emergencies.

The project aims to improve the accessibility and quality of medical care for patients with cancer in the frontline Kherson region, as well as to ensure safe treatment conditions in extreme conditions. Particular attention is paid to the autonomy of the institution so that it can continue to provide medical services even during prolonged emergencies.

The total budget for the reconstruction is estimated at UAH 11.2 million and is currently in need of funding. The project was initiated by the Department of Health of the Kherson Regional State Administration, with the cancer center itself acting as the balance sheet holder.

According to the initiators, the project is in line with the state strategy for the development of the Civil Protection Facilities Fund until 2034 and is part of the Unified Project Portfolio, which allows it to be integrated into regional and community development plans.

The Kherson Oncology Center is also preparing to equip a room for the installation of a magnetic resonance imaging scanner. This will allow patients not to be referred to other regions, and doctors will be able to diagnose oncology in a timely manner. The project is planned to raise more than UAH 45 million.
