Police investigators have sent to court the case of a family doctor and his assistant, who are accused of abuse of influence and issuing fake disability certificates.

This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa Oblast.

According to the investigation, a 33-year-old family doctor of a private medical institution, during a consultation on prescribing a course of treatment for health complaints, offered a local resident help for money. Referring to his acquaintances in expert commissions, he promised the man to issue a disability certificate so that he could avoid mobilization.

The doctor guaranteed to produce documents about a non-existent neurological disease and submit them to the expert commission, which, in turn, had to confirm the fictitious diagnosis and establish the second group of disability. When the client agreed, a 39-year-old acquaintance of the doctor joined the case. She instructed the man, told him the algorithm of further actions, in particular, what documents he needed to collect, and named the cost of the service - 16 thousand dollars.

The resident of Odesa reported this to the police, and law enforcement officers detained the doctor immediately after he received the first tranche of the illegal benefit - $5,000. The court imposed on the man a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention with the right to be released on bail in the amount of almost one million hryvnias, which he did not use.

The illegal actions of the doctor's accomplice were also documented by law enforcement. The court imposed a bail of UAH 332.8 thousand on the woman, which she paid. If proven guilty, the man and woman could face up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property.
