A car with men who were trying to travel abroad overturned in Odesa region when the driver tried to escape from border guards.

This was reported by the press service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

When the driver saw the border guards, he accelerated and lost control of the car and overturned into a ditch. In addition to the driver, there were six people in the car who sustained injuries of varying severity as a result of the accident.

Border guards immediately provided first aid to the victims and called an ambulance and the police. The SBGS operatives found out that those wishing to get to neighboring Moldova had asked the administrator of one of the telegram channels for help. Without any guarantees of successful transportation, the men paid a deposit of more than USD 25 thousand to the dealer's crypto wallet in advance.

For this amount, the organizer provided them with a car that was located at a designated meeting place for the offenders. The offenders installed Ukrainian license plates from another car on the SUV with Romanian registration.

For attempting to illegally cross the state border, reports of administrative offenses were drawn up against the offenders, which is punishable under Article 204-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Ukraine. The cases were sent to court.

In September, police officers detained a man in Odesa region on suspicion of organizing a channel for smuggling people liable for military service abroad. When asked by law enforcement officers to present documents for verification, the driver of the car actually provided an official ID card of a prosecutor from one of the departments of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office, which turned out to be a fake.
