An Odessa-based developer paid 5 million following a BEB investigation

An Odessa-based construction company specializing in new construction failed to pay more than 5 million hryvnias in income tax to the state budget. Following an investigation by the Economic Security Bureau (ESB), the company fully reimbursed the state for the losses incurred.

This was reported by the press service of the Economic Security Bureau in the Odesa region.

According to the regional office, during 2023–2024, company officials inflated the cost of goods, works, and services sold. As a result, the company failed to calculate and pay 5.2 million hryvnias in income tax to the state budget.

During authorized searches, detectives seized cash, bank cards, company seals, computer and mobile devices, accounting and tax records, as well as rough notes.

During the pre-trial investigation, the company fully compensated the state for the losses incurred. It paid 5.2 million hryvnias in principal tax and financial penalties to the budget.

Given the full reimbursement of the losses, in accordance with Part 4 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the prosecutor of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office filed a motion with the court to exempt the company’s director from criminal liability and to close the criminal case.

The final decision in the case will be made by the court.

As previously reported by Intent, the court granted the prosecutor’s office’s claim and ordered the developer to pay 1 ,844,000 hryvnias to the Odesa city budget.

The prosecutor’s office established that in 2020–2021, the developer constructed a multi-unit residential building on Pedagogichna Street in Odesa with an underground parking garage totaling over 4,000 square meters.

Previously, the Supreme Court of Ukraine sided with the Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office in a dispute with a developer constructing a residential complex in the village of Lymanka in the Tairovskaya community.
