Amputee Soccer and the President's Visit: Odessa Hosted the Annual Superhumans Meeting

On July 3–4, Superhumans Odesa held two events in the city—it opened a center for combat trauma and organized an annual gathering of the center’s alumni, partners, veterans, friends, and experts in the field of prosthetics.

According to an Intenta correspondent, the event featured a futsal match, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy attended the gathering with his wife. 

  Anastasia Yurkevych, a player for the “Kolos-Bureviy” team and the national women’s amputee soccer team, said that playing amputee soccer became an adventure for her.

“I stumbled into this sport by chance; it was an adventure for me. At first, I was invited to the ‘Maximum’ camp, where they were forming the women’s amputee soccer team, and there I tried standing on crutches during a game. We started training with the guys on the team thanks to our captain. She was coaching the ‘Kolos-Bureviy’ team, and now we’re playing with the guys,” the athlete noted.

Anastasia is convinced that amputee soccer allows people who wear prosthetics to find fulfillment through sports, helps them make new friends, and promotes socialization. In addition to amputee soccer, other sports were featured: arm wrestling, archery, sambo, jiu-jitsu, and table tennis. 

During the event, there was an area where visitors could receive consultations on prosthetics and learn about the center’s services, as well as a children’s zone, beauty zones, video game zones, and a tattoo zone.

Superhumans is a nationwide center for rehabilitation, prosthetics, and reconstructive surgery, founded in 2022by Andriy Stavnitser,Philip Grushko,and Olga Rudneva. The first center opened in Lviv in April 2023, followed by Superhumans Dnipro. Odesa became the third city to host a clinic. The project is supported by the French government, Americanphilanthropist Howard Buffett, Britishentrepreneur Richard Branson,musician Sting,Trudie Styler, and other international partners. In May 2026, the Superhumans network received the highest—diamond—level of accreditation from Accreditation Canada.
